Do you know about our Nursing Clinics?

This month, we would like to remind you about our nurse clinics.  These run every weekday at both practices to promote preventative care and provide routine procedures at a lower cost than vet consultations.

Our nursing team provide services such as weight clinics, weighing animals for their worming and flea treatments, nail clipping, tick removal and at appointments in our specific Registered Veterinary Nurse clinics, administer puppy second vaccinations and empty anal glands. They can also help owners to administer treatments such as ear cleaning/assist with the administration of medications prescribed by our vets.

Nurse clinics run at Hornsea from 2:30pm to 3:30pm and at Beverley from 2pm to 3pm.  Occasionally we will be able to provide later appointments on request.

Our nurses welcome all types of pets to thesurgery. Nurse-runclinics allow your animal to become used to visiting the practice and being examined (or just made a fuss of!) without the need for a vet present, which often helps to reduce their anxiety and avoid the association that the practice is a scary place.

Typically, nurse appointments are also  more affordable – for example, clipping claws is around five pounds cheaper than when seen by a vet. Don’t forget that we don’t charge for several of our clinics, such as weight clinic and weigh & worm appointments. Certain other nursing appointments are free of charge or available at reduced cost if your pet is a member of our Pet Health Plan. For more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

However, please note that nurses are not qualified to diagnose disease or prescribe prescription-onlytreatments.  Therefore, if the animal is unwell or if thenurse finds anything abnormal on examination, a vet consultation will be more appropriate – this may incur an extra charge.

All consultations are by appointment only – please phone either surgery to book in to see our friendly nursing team.
